چکیده

The sorption abilities of leaves powders of Bhringraj , Aerva lanata, Trianthema portulacastrum L for extracting Chromium (VI) from polluted waters have been studied with respect to various physicochemical parameters such as pH, sorption dosage and equilibrium time. The conditions for maximum removal of Chromium (VI) have been optimized. Ten fold excess of common cation ions present in natural waters, viz., Ca Mg , Cu, Zn Ni and Fe have synergistic effect in increasing the % removal of Chromate. SO4and Phosphates are found to be interfering with the extractability of Chromates but NO3 , Chloride, Fluoride and Carbonate have marginal interference. However, the extraction has never come down below 72.0%. Maximum extractions to an extent of 96.0%, 92.0%, and 84.0% from synthetic waters are observed with the leaves powders of Bhringraj , Aerva lanata, Trianthema portulacastrum L respectively at pH:2 and at optimum equilibration time and sorbent concentrations. The methodologies developed are applied to diverse waste water samples collected from industrial effluents and polluted lakes. The procedures are found to be remarkably successful in removing the Chromiume(VI) from waste waters.

In this research a new type of magnetic Pb(II) and Cr(VI) ion-imprinted polymers were synthesized using Fe3O4@SiO2 magnetic particles as supporter, benzoyl phenyl hydroxylamine and dithizone as ligands for Pb and Cr ions respectively, 4-vinyl pyridine as functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as crosslinker and 2,2′-azobis(isobutyronitrile) as the initiator. The ionic templates were...

Biosorption of hexavalent Chromium by the agricultural wastes of the cotton and barberry plants

Hexavalent chromium, a highly toxic metal ion employed in industrial activities, is considered as a first priority pollutant. In this study, the capsule walls of the boll of cotton (cotton waste, CW) and the waste obtained from pruning barberry bushes (barberry waste, BW) were investigated as cheap and locally available adsorbents for Cr (VI) removal. The adsorption behavior, equilibrium, and k...

Responses of endogenous proline in rice seedlings under chromium exposure

Hydroponic experiments were performed to exam the dynamic change of endogenous proline in rice seedlings exposed to potassium chromate chromium (VI) or chromium nitrate chromium (III). Although accumulation of both chromium species in rice seedlings was obvious, more chromium was detected in plant tissues of rice seedlings exposed to chromium (III) than those in chromium (VI), majority being in...

Chromium (VI) Considered as a serious health hazard and it has attracted attention as a pollutant in natural waters. The sources of contamination of chromium in natural waters and in the Environment are from electroplating, tanning industries and waste solution from oxidative dyeing and leaching from sanitary land – fills, In view of this the separation and determination of chromium has been re...

Removal of chromium (VI) from aqueous solution by adsorption using cousinia eryngioides boiss and activated carbon

Adsorption capacity of Cr (VI) onto cousinia eryngioides boiss, activated carbon was investigated in a batch system by considering the effects of various parameters like contact time, initial concentration, pH, temperature, agitation speed, absorbent dose and particle size. Cr (VI) removal is pH dependent and found to be maximum at pH 2.0. The amounts of Cr (VI) adsorbed increased with increase...
